Immunotherapy
Step 05 of 07 · Seven-Step Care Pathway
Immunotherapy
Changing the immune response — not simply treating the symptoms.
- For appropriately selected patients, allergen immunotherapy can be used to gradually modify the immune response to specific allergens.
- Unlike medication, which primarily controls symptoms, immunotherapy aims to develop greater tolerance to the relevant allergen over time.
- Depending on the allergen and clinical circumstances, treatment may involve subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) or sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT).
- Treatment is carefully selected, prescribed and monitored according to the patient’s diagnosis and risk profile.
Delivery options
Depending on the allergen and clinical circumstances, treatment may involve:
SCIT
Subcutaneous immunotherapy
SLIT
Sublingual immunotherapy
From symptom control to immune tolerance.
